Hammered Dulcimer • PD40 • Dusty Strings
Description: This solid timber dulcimer is laid out like a piano using half-step (semitone) intervals across the bridge. Each course of double strings cross two markers on the top of the main bridge; white markers indicate natural notes, and black markers indicate flats or sharps. Once you learn the pattern it's easy to change keys since all the scales follow the same pattern.
Notes are arranged in semi-tones on either side of a central bridge and have two bridge markers on each course of strings. The white bridge markers indicate natural notes (white keys on a piano) and the black markers indicate sharps and flats (black keys on a piano). Auxiliary chromatic bass notes are provided on short bridges to either side of the central bridge. The layout is very similar to a piano and best suits an experienced musician who wants the dulcimer sound and can do their own arranging. The PD40 has solid wood construction, 3 1/2 full chromatic octaves and is easily portable with a rich full voice. It comes"damper ready" for player installation at any time. You can also request that they are installed at the time of ordering. West Coast Harp PD40 package includes a C45 cordura nylon padded case, set of double-sided oval hammers, gooseneck tuning wrench and owner's guidebook.
