Description: The FH36S is one of the two largest professional FH series of harps that Dusty Strings produces. It has a rich, even 5-octave range from C, 2 octaves below middle C to C, 3 octaves above middle C. Choice of wood for the soundbox will subtly affect voicing of the harp; maple being characteristically brighter, walnut mellower, sapele true and even, cherry and bubinga rich and sweet. Whatever the wood you choose, your harp will command admiration for its tone, balance, workmanship and beauty.
The FH36S has a 5-sided “staveback” soundbox construction with bookmatched timber of your choice as opposed to the rectangular soundbox of the FH36B. The FH36S design is often more comfortable for the player with narrow shoulders and facilitates reaching the lower strings with the right hand. The staveback design also affects the sound produced by the harp - rounder and fuller with a resonance reminiscent of playing in a cathedral. An impressive piece of fine woodworking and a satisfying investment for any harp enthusiast.
This soundbox
shape, as opposed to the rectangular soundbox of the FH36B,
gives an overall rounder sound, with a slightly fuller
bass voice. The sound "envelops" the player in a beautiful surround sound.
